Chilling at the Franklins
Hello All
It has been a lambing week. Not a frenzied one, a slow drip of one or two lambs everyday or every other day. This can be extraordinarily annoying under normal circumstances when all you really want is to get the lambing finished with and get on with everything else that needs doing. However this year it has turned out to be a real bonus as there is lots of backwards and forwards-ing between countries this month. I have remembered that farming can be good fun and I have remembered that despite my preoccupation with the butchery, I can still remember what to do when presented with a lamb coming out head first of a poor struggling mummy sheep. I have also discovered that my girls, despite there diminutive sizes, are really quite strong, so we succssfully managed to load a large round bale into the trailer and then unload it into a field with no mechanical assistance. GIRL POWER!!
Apparently trailer reversing is less scary these days and eventhough it takes double the amount of time to reach the ideal positioning of the rear door the goal is actually achieved...... I should have taken a photo of that. Obviously watching Gavin driving trailers around for 20 something years has taught me a thing or two by osmosis. I was chatting with a (female) friend at the market the other day about cars and spare parts and another friend (male) said it was quite weird to listen to girls talking about cars to each other. Made me think of Kylie Minogue becoming a mechanic in Neighbours 20 something....or is that 30 something years ago, and all the stick she got for it. Goodness how mentality has not changed with time.....
I thought I was succeeding in putting the elephant in the room at the back of my mind, but as I sit listening to Radio 4 I discover that Article 50 is being signed on my birthday. AAAAAGGGGHHHHH. I may have to change my birthday.  This may be the first time in a few years I have to get completely plastered. I will have to book a cake that looks like this.......

.....a creation by my youngest that we arrived home to one busy Sunday afternoon. What is happening to the world. Thank goodness for the Dutch in the current political climate. I will revert to my Ostrich pose until the end of the month and you may not see me on the internet for many weeks. Gavin is reading a book called "The Battle for Rhodesia" which he says has quite a lot of similarities with The British state of mind at the moment. I would give it a go but having just read "It Can't Happen Here" with my book club I am thinking I have had enough of reading about the fact that no one learns from anyone elses mistakes, and no-one takes anyone elses advice. Life is too short to not be nice to people.
I must give up ranting...no in fact I will continue it is a good way to let of steam which is much better for ones health. I am sure it will successfully get me into trouble with many people long into the future.
Here is a rainbow to end with.
See you sometime
